AOA Geophysics delivers value to its clients by providing geological solutions through services that are reliable, economic, safe, and innovative when needed. They include consulting and contracting for offshore site investigations, marine seep exploration, onshore seismic and site investigations, non-seismic surveys, borehole analyses, and the integration of geophysical data. Our scope is global, and our clients are in upstream oil & gas, minerals mining, major engineering projects, and non-fossil energy developments: atomic, geothermal, CO2 sequestration, and wind.
AOA was formed in 1989 as Arnold Orange Associates, and incorporated in 1997 as AOA Geophysics Inc to become an employee owned consulting and contracting company. The original emphasis on electrical methods, primarily magnetotellurics (MT), quickly expanded to include potential field methods – gravity and magnetics – and then seafloor and near-seafloor studies, as well as other offshore site investigation services.
The company targets a technical leadership position in all its undertakings. A pioneer in the field of marine electrical geophysics, the company’s efforts in this field culminated in the formation of a separate company, AOA Geomarine Operations Inc. (AGO),in 2002 whose mission was to commercialize Controlled Source Electromagnetics (CSEM). AGO was acquired by Schlumberger in 2004. In June of 2011, AOA Geophysics was acquired by Fugro (USA). AOA Geophysics will integrate with Fugro GeoConsulting in Houston.
